The French Char B1 Bis appeared in 1935, it was an updated tank which has thicker armour and a larger gun in the turret (a 47mm gun). The large 75 mm howitzer placed in the hull, was difficult to use because the whole tank had to be moved in order to aim the gun due to limited traverse. It had two secondary 7.5mm machine guns (one in the hull and one in the turret). The cramped turret and interior caused the tank to have very poor performance. the tank was disliked by the crews. Many tanks were fitted with radio sets to be used in the West and a few were used as training vehicles to train new crew members.
