Lego® World War II Vehicles

In World War II, military vehicles were used to transport personnel, equipment or artillery pieces across the battlefield and into position. These vehicles ranged from light jeeps to heavy half-tracks. The American MB Jeep was used by officers and soldiers to get to the front-line and was the first mass produced in large numbers. The German army had many variations of half-tracks like the Sd. Kfz. 251 which was adapted for many uses on the battlefield such as the howitzer, medical and artillery versions.

Lego® Cold War Vehicles

Vehicles became more specialised and complex as the Cold War progressed into the late 1990s. The Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs) were developed to move infantry units/sections to get as close as possible to the front-line. And could provide close-range fire support to aid soldiers advancing forward. Also, Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) fulfilled a similar role. Soon there were multiple vehicles which could act in many different conflict zones, and many vehicles worked effectively when in coordination with Main Battle Tanks (MBTs). There were lots of strategies to camoflague vehicles like the Nato tri-colour paint scheme or armour which kept the vehicle hidden from infra-red cameras and sensors.
