TIGER DAY - 2023 - At The Tank Museum

We had an amazing day at TIGER DAY 2023! There was a lot to see and do.

TANK FEST 2023

In the morning at 10.00 am the day started with the motorbike and armoured car kicking off the event.


There was the famous American - Willys Jeep. The American MB Jeep was a legendary vehicle that was instrumental in the success of the Allied forces during World War II. This iconic off-road vehicle was designed to be lightweight, manoeuvrable, and reliable in various terrains. Equipped with a powerful engine, four-wheel drive, and a sturdy frame, it was able to navigate through rough terrain with ease. It was used for a variety of tasks, including reconnaissance, transportation, and communication. Today, the MB Jeep is still a popular vehicle among collectors and enthusiasts who appreciate its historical significance and rugged capabilities.

The British Daimler armoured car was next up. The Daimler Armoured Car is a classic World War II military vehicle that was widely used by the British army. This powerful armoured car was designed for use in reconnaissance missions and was equipped with a 2-pounder gun and a coaxial machine gun. The vehicle was built on a Daimler Dingo chassis and had a top speed of 50 mph. The Daimler Armoured Car was used extensively in both Africa and Europe during the war, and it remains a popular choice for military vehicle enthusiasts today.

The main event was the World War II tanks and vehicles driving around the arena. This M24 Chaffee was a brilliant sight. The M24 Chaffee was an American light tank used during World War II and the Korean War. It was named after General Adna R. Chaffee Jr., a US Army officer who helped develop armoured warfare tactics.

The tank was highly manoeuvrable and had a top speed of 35 mph. Its main armament was a 75mm gun, and it was also equipped with a .50 calibre machine gun and a .30 calibre machine gun. The M24 Chaffee played a significant role in the Allied victory in Europe and is still regarded as one of the most successful light tanks ever produced.


Inside the museum there were great displays of World War II model kits.

The TIGER I enters the battlefield and a re-enactment of the capture of the TIGER 131. There were many explosions and re-enactors to create the best re-enactment EVER! Many tanks also come on as well such as the: M5 Stuart, Sherman Easy Eight 'Fury', Panzer I, Panzer III, Matilda II, Comet, Centaur and Churchill III all in the same arena moving around!

The Sherman Easy Eight 'Fury' was an impressive sight to see flying around the field. The Sherman Fury Tank was a variant of the M4 Sherman Tank used during World War II. It was equipped with a 76mm M1A1 gun and had a top speed of 30 miles per hour. The tank was named after the commander of the 2nd Armoured Division, Colonel William O. Darby. This tank was used mainly during the Battle of the Bulge and proved to be a formidable opponent to the German tanks. The Sherman Fury Tank was a symbol of American military might during World War II.

Overall the whole event was amazing and it was a brilliant experience.
